Some regard it as the lifeblood of east central Africa flowing north from its major source, Lake Victoria, to the Mediterranean, which has nurtured many civilizations; others believe it is of holy significance. It is the life-giving river at the very heart of Egypt this legendary river is certainly the Nile.
