Sunsail/Paradise Found #11: Green Key and The Indians

All of our cruisers come together for a visit to Green Key off of Little Jost Van Dyke. During a stroll down the beach, there are lots of stories to share. Next, there is snorkeling at The Indians: four rocks that rise from the ocean floor to a height of 90 feet. Located next to tiny Pelican Island just north of Norman Island, the bottom is just 50 feet deep. The Indians offer our cruisers a chance to swim amongst a wide variety of tropical fish and brilliantly colored corals. Stay tuned for Episode 12, Million Dollar View, the final episode of Paradise Found: Saling the BVI. TheSailingChannel.Com brings Gary Jobson’s outstanding film about sailing the British Virgin Islands to video podcasting. Sunsail, the world’s largest sailing vacation company, wanted to showcase it’s British Virgin Islands fleet. So it ran a contest among its former charter customers. The winners, a family and two couples, would cruise free while staring in a promotional video produced and narrated by sailing legend Gary Jobson–not a bad deal! Sunsail/Paradise Found #8: Anegada Getaway
The Morrisons and Riglers safely negotiate the channel through the barrier reef into Anegada’s harbor. There they find a secluded atoll with pristine beaches, exotic wildlife, and some of the best dining in the BVI. Anegada’s population is just over 200. The island is also home to the rare rock iguana, wild orchids, and the green sea turtle. Locals harvest a fresh supply of lobsters each day that visitors can savor that night at open fire kitchens by the sea. Stay tuned for Episode 9, Exploring the BVI. Tall Ship Prince William: Voyage of Understanding
TheSailingChannel presents a Tall Ships mini-documentary from our partner SailTV - Tall Ships Youth Trust Voyage of Understanding. On 12 July 2006, 48 student sailors concluded a 10-nation goodwill voyage aboard the Tall Ship Prince William in London, UK. Funded by the HSBC Education Trust, the goal of the voyage was to help young adults from diverse backgrounds to gain a better understanding of different cultures and religions while developing teamwork and communications skills. The Prince William is operated by the Tall Ships Youth Trust, a non-profit dedicated to the personal development of young people through the crewing of Tall Ships. The young crew, representing eight different nationalities, sailed the 60-metre square rigger some 800 nautical miles from Brixham, UK via France and Belgium, to a spectacular arrival up the Thames and under the famous London drawbridge. Sunsail/Paradise Found #9: Exploring the BVI
Our cruisers continue to explore the BVI. The Flanders family strolls an isolated beach then Rich takes his son kayaking across a tranquil cove and into a water-filled cave. After the couple’s boat anchors, Greg points his kayak into the surf, steering it though some heavy waves for a wild ride to the beach. Ashore Janna Flanders and her daughter check out a local craft shop. At days end, the Flanders family meets for some BVI style food and entertainment. Stay tuned for Episode 10, Jost Van Dyke.
